1027 [Dow Jones] Ten (TEN.AU) up 1.4% early at A$3.55 after CanWest reportedly hires Citigroup to assess options for majority stake in TV network, raising hopes CanWest could be a seller. Adds to heavy activity in sector over past week, after Seven (SEV.AU) secured stake in WA News (WAN.AU), PBL (PBL.AU) sells half stake in media assets to CVC Asia Pacific for A$4.5 billion and News Corp (NWS.AU) takes 7.5% stake in Fairfax (FXJ.AU). FXJ down 8 cents at A$4.97 after NWS Chairman Rupert Murdoch says not looking at full takeover, or to split up FXJ. Murdoch paid A$5.20 a share for stake. (LMF)
