This is an interesting graph of stats on how long it takes the average mine in Australia to get into production. It was taken from a presentation from EMR capital who own mines in EU, Africa, Australia, Indonesia Chile and the USA. They have a number of coking coal assets.
It takes over a decade to get a coal mine up, however that is a backward looking statistic. With the greenies, banks and governments all pretty cold on coal, we can expect these times to be longer. Mining in 2033?????
