As a private investor as soon as you hear their is a capital raising you go to your Broker or a Broker you know has links to the underwriter (in this case J P Morgan) and you let them know of your desire to get set for "x" amount of stock. You give them a firm bid and they deal with the Underwriter to see what you get. They pool other PI's and go to the Underwriter with a firm Institutional bid for stock .
This way you have a chance to get set , never assume an underwritten Institutional Capital Raising counts you out , you just have to be quick on your feet - and on the phone !
