I didnt know I was developing policy through posting on hotcopper. If I am, even better. Cut taxes to 30% and remove all deductions for mortgage interest on second homes. Make capital gains taxes 15%. Woohoo.
I went to university and have been prone to stupid ideas myself at the time. Happily I grew up. I did however understand even at that tender age that arts degrees were a hobby and the average person doing one was evading getting a job and putting off lifes responsibility as long as possible.
I have since had a lot of time to enjoy learning the arts in my spare time and didnt need a degree to do it. I also avoided all the political indoctrination that usually goes with an arts degree.
Australia is going to struggle to compete on the world stage without technical graduates. And we are importing doctors from the UK and Europe at present so we all know we need more of those.
So, is it a bad idea to wish to have more of a good thing and less of a useless thing?
