    Guys, I'm no tax expert but I know enough to be dangerous.

    The short answer is that if you are an Australian resident then you will have to file a return with the ATO declaraing all capital gains from where ever derived.

    I would have thought that there would be not CGT event by switching from CDI on the ASX to common stock on the NASDAQ, given the underlying interest is the same, just at a 6:1 ratio.
