Would take nothing more than sea lanes being cut off stopping our exports over some tiff eg China grabbing something and the USA trying to use force to stop them.

May not even need war as the USA debt is out of control and the Petro dollar ceased this month and the USA may have to make bond rates really high to sell any given the move to gold by China and Russia and others rather than the US$.

Hell we could dream up scenarios where ebola runs rampant throught a city - there will be plenty of empty homes left after that.
