That's right Knackers. In a recent Lowy Institute poll showed that 81% of Australians wanted clean energy sources, even if it cost more to ensure grid reliability.

Australia was still a democracy the last time I checked. If a party wants to get votes, it needs to choose policies that are popular with the public. It's clear that, apart from the lobby groups, nobody wants anything to do with coal.
