From what I gathered on views expressed on here is that companies like COP won't be interested in these early "activities". They get in when leases (prospects) has been proved up to a drill ready stage. - that's what I gathered but I could be very wrong. Nothing to stop COP to take early advantage when they have all the info at had. As for CNE, I'm more inclined to think that they are the type of comp to get in at an earlier stage (as they did when they farmed in to the current leases with FAR).
But I did ask this very question to CN at IP, .. whether negotiations with neighbors to farm in are/will be undertaken with the current JV partners and the response was an emphatic NO. FAR is going it alone. Whether they will succeed is a different question.
