I was thinking about this the other day and came to a conclusion that If you look at technology and consumer goods, how much of these products have reached their maturity or peak?

LCD monitors - How big and clear do you want it?, Computers - how large of a storage do you possibly want? Mobile Phones - how much functions and features do you want to possibly jam inside? Search Engines - how much porn do you want to gather? Cars - how fast do you want it to go? Gaming Consoles - how much games can you possibly play? etc etc etc the same can be applied to most products being sold and marketed today.

All of these have come a long way in such a short amount of time we cant keep upgrading these products when nothing is really being upgraded except for the cosmetic. As the market slows products like these will be in less demand and consumers will just use what they have.

Innovation is one of the key for the economy recover. Create complete new products and create new consumer wants and needs and that is when we'll begin to see great things again.
