Its a great system on the way up but feedback loops work in both directions. Now even traders are asking for more regulation.
There's been an assumption that capitalism "won" the cold war and was proven the better system. Fair enough as regards the USSR, but if you look at systems in places like Sweden you have quite a well-functioning form of socialism without the excesses that come with totalitarian leaders and absolute centralization, or the laissez-faire lawlessness that seems to be infecting the markets at the moment.
