capping share prices.

    I have read in threads about share prices being capped and manipulated and I don't get how an individual or group can dictate the share price in the way that has been discribed. Can someone walk me through it? And as a friend of mine used to say - talk to me like I'm a 4 year old, I don't like the big words....Thanks.
