When I first began trading I over-traded and I wasn't well educated - this is over 10 years ago. I suffered some pretty expensive lessons. Now I am still not a lot smarter, but a lot more careful and I concentrate on only a few companies. At the moment these are Lynas and the REE sector and I hold the odd speccie from the iron ore sector, or energy sector, favouring anything with REEs and Uranium, I also keep an eye out for Copper. This can change - staying informed is important (and fun!)

I began buying Lynas at around 0.50 last July and have made a bit of money on it.
I have traded part of my investment in Lynas at least 3 times - my last sell and buy was not well-timed, but it had nothing to do with N.C.; I simply didn't concentrate enough, since I've realised having time away from the computer is enjoyable, too.

LYC is a wonderful plaything for investors, small and large, because there is such liquidity. It is important to know that there is always a variety of players at work, like people who have to sell because they use the bank's money (I've never done this), or it's being played up or down by the larger investors - in my view, it's all legit.

If I am at all worried about the share price falling I just check the volume - at times last week there was a heavy assault on Lynas with more sellers than buyers and yet the s.p. stayed above $1.70 and both, buyers and sellers kept coming; - former support lines were around $1.10, then $1.30, $1.45 - 1.50, but people forget so easily.
Life moves fast when you're in the sharemarket and I think the average short-term trader's attention span is about the same as a gnat's.

Generally speaking, I feel reasonably safe with my investment in Lynas. It will be interesting in a few months' time, to see if Lynas' s.p. will move ahead dramatically or do a retrace like many first-time producers experience. Quality of staff, including management will have a big impact and from what I can see, they seem to be well-served by both; there is also the possibility that there will be so much demand for the stuff, they can't get it out quick enough. I for one, would not want Ziggy to be CEO - he may be alright, but I believe his speciality is his technical expertise. Essentially Lynas are the front runner in this industry outside China and they already have sales contracts in place.

However, be careful not to fall in love with a company!

I'll be signing off for the day, need to check out where the bushfires are - I live in the Hills of Perth, but as yet no danger.

    Good Luck
