If an investor is short a stock on record date, he is not entitled to the dividend. In fact, he is responsible for paying the dividend to the lender of the stock. So the 1 in 17 entitlement offer the Shorter should be required to provide the shares required at $2.50. Now if that is the case then the Shorters have two options. They cover their short positions or they drive the SP down to less than $2.50 !!!
