    Agree hanrahan, cruise control is fine for people who have difficulty maintaining a steady foot pressure on the accelerator, but it is much better to "feel" the pedal pressure to assist the engine.

    On cresting a hill for example one lifts the foot to allow the momentum to carry the vehicle over the hill, a cruise control does not do that it just powers on...I am sure many with cruise control fitted have enjoyed the exhilaration as the car rockets over a hill because the cruise has still got the throttle wide open!

    The absolute correct way to drive is to anticipate...ie look at least three cars ahead if not more if able.

    "Angel" gear is a strict no-no, no proper control of the vehicle as everything is free wheeling.
    It means less vacuum for the brake assistance, being totally unable to accelerate if needed to avoid something, and one also runs the risk of the engine actually stalling and wiping out your power steering assist too.
    Though whacking back in gear would fix that...

    Too little education these days on basic motoring imo.
