Additionally, in December 2020, Toyota issued a recall for over 74,000 popular models, including the petrol-powered Hilux, due to a potential fuel pump failure that could cause the engine to stall while driving or, in the worst case, lead to a vehicle fire.[1] This recall affected Hilux models built between 2013 and 2019.

So in summary, the Hilux has faced two major recalls related to fire risks - one involving the electronic roller cover in 2020-2021 models, and another concerning the fuel pump in models from 2013 to 2019.[1][4][5]

@pintohoo; my mother-in-law's small 1994 Toyota hatch was recalled due to a faulty airbag. Globally millions of those cars were junked by Toyota because the fix was greater than what value was left in the car - Toyota bought them back!

To Toyota's credit, they paid my mother-in-law double its market value when she agreed to buy the latest version of it, a Yaris.

Some of our dinosaur era posters on this forum would go back to horse-pulled carriages, conveniently forgetting all the horrendous downsides. Now and as EVs become the new norm, they'll still be out there buying up old FFVs similar to what happens in Cuba and wasting $Countless $Thousands on vehicles which never cut the mustard in the first place. Such is right wing thinking / logic.
