    Sales of new motor vehicles in Australia rose again in January, in line with expectations, according to data from Australian Bureau of Statistics.

    According to the ABS, 85,624 new cars were sold in Australia in the month of January, a seasonally adjusted rise of 1.3 per cent.

    Sales are now a seasonally adjusted 2.7 per cent higher than they were at this stage last year.

    Analysts had tipped new car sales to have lifted one per cent in the month.
