There is masses of misinformation on social media re this "Dural caravan with explosives" which has all got worse after the AFP/NSW cops claim it is all some hoax run by organised crime - a common falsehood you read on soc-med is "this caravan carrying explosives was found on 19th Jan " Facts are if you read all the very early reporting 19th Jan and after - The padlocked van must have been parked on the roadside near Dural approx in late Nov. By whom we dunno and from whence it journeyed we dunno -if cops know they not telling public - Due to locals being annoyed that it was a bit of a traffic hazard - ~7th Dec a local guy towed it to his nearby property and parked it - there it sat until near 19Jan his curiosity lead him to cut the padlock off and he saw the explosives inside and called cops - so thats how the saga got to 19th Jan - P.S. My "late Nov" above is a guess from much reading of early media accounts - you can find the 7 Dec date mentioned and from locals comments it was there 1 to 2 weeks before the local guy acted and towed it away - If any journos were motivated to go out there and interview local motorists they may get firmer testimony as to the exact date it was originally parked on the Dural roadside.
