The Commonwealth Government intends to introduce the proposed Carbon Emissions (the so-called "Carbon Tax") legislation into Federal Parliament next week.

Assuming the legislation passes both houses without delay, this means the legislation could become enacted within the December quarter this year.

For CCF, the introduction of the Carbon Emission legislation, following on from the recent passage of the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) means that Australia will have an agreed price on carbon, approved methodologies for valuing carbon and carbon credits, an approved Emission Trading Scheme for the buying, selling and trading in carbon credits and an incentive mechanism for carbon emitters to reduce their emissions and invest in carbon abatement project developers like Carbon Conscious.
