But WHO can process lignite to the above economicly?
I reckon the "ie urea/diesel/syngas" was the tipping point for the Govts to proceed the Pilbara. Power generation was not enough imo to create a new industry. Diversification was needed.
Its well known that the "power" of LV lignite is its VERY low ash/sulphur...AND its volatiles:

Now only Coldry removes ONLY the water...leaving ALL the volatiles to do their trick...
We know Exergen does not deliver a distilled water by-product like Coldry does. Exergen must filter the residue.
Q is HOW much of the Exergen volatiles are nullified - removed in their process?

Coldry "residue" is distilled water and ALL valuable volitiles intact. Neat.
Maybe that ESI "volatile matter" will have a volatile impact on its sp soon?
I still reckon the Pilbara is largely predicated on Coldry - that Feb 13 move etc etc tells the "co-incendent" story imo..all roads lead to the ARUP DFT.
