Oil prices at $100 will mean fuel prices in excess of $1.60 a litre. Add in a carbon tax (I thought fuel excises were supposed to be the taxes on petrol!!!) and people will be looking at even higher fuel prices. I cant see labor withstanding the blowtorch of public fury at $2 petrol.
Julia may have tabled this to appease the Greens, with intent to lose and blame the Coalition who are sure to block it. Her support from the independents is weakening as it is.
