Two seperate subjects. What has alternative fuels got to with a carbon tax?
Just about every alternative tried so far has been a dismal failure. You can bet that the quest for the holy-grail is in full swing. Whacking on a tax will just slow it down.
There is no alternative for clean base load power to nuclear.
Throughout history, technological advance has always come from the carrot approach, not the stick (tax). But in any event, this new tax will probably be Gillard's death knell. And if carbon affects everyone, why is the divide down party political lines? It just does not make any realistic sense.
