opening of non grain biofuel plant

    The link below shows an article on the opening last week of a 200 thousand tonne ethanol plant in China using cassava as its feedstock. The same company has signed up to a lot of land in Indonesia for biofuel from Jatropha.

    Considering the technology is already there, why is corn still being used in biofuels. Anyone know? Apparantley cassava can be grown on very poor agricultural land, so it doens't crowd out grain production either.
