carbon tax alternative energy stocks

I have done some research on Australian Alternative Energy Stocks. If the carbon tax stays and Abbott will probably have trouble trying to remove it, then these stocks may pick up. I have noted several points:
All alternative energy stocks have been on a waterslide in the past year. Does this mean they are undervalued because of GFC and political/govt distraction?
Most are new with IPOs 21st century.
Should ASX start an AE sector like LSE?
I would be open to suggestions and additions to this list.
I will try to find some comparisons on carbon emissions savings for each of the different technologies - can be quite unexpected e.g. Ceramic Fuel Cell BlueGen household hot water and power generator saves 5 or 6 times the amount of carbon emissions than solar generation.
