    Thanks to those who have responded to my questions.

    I'd be interested to know why lordolean is so emphatically negative.

    I tend to think that any plantations GNS has established post 1989 on land which was not already tree covered could potentially qualify for carbon credits, though it depends on the details of the scheme which might be adopted.

    Some companies, CCF and COZ, have established plantations to capitalise on the availability of carbon credits .

    CCF is expecting up to 300 tonnes per ha carbon equivalent over a 30 year period from mallee plantations. Given GNS plantations are likely to be much more productive (higher rainfall zone, different species), one could speculate on perhaps 400 tonnes per ha C equivalent. With a carbon price of say $25 per tonne this would equate to $10,000 per ha.
