Thorium based nuclear reactors are at experimental stages.

They aren't even at generation 1 level, while Uranium based nuclear is at generation 4 level and through trial and tribulation has been commercially proven and tested for more than half a century.

Despite the possible advantages of Thorium based nuclear, they are yet to be thoroughly tested and rolled out in any meaningful way.

Despite all pros and cons of various nuclear technologies, U-based nuclear still has a good couple of decades of breathing space over any other type of nuclear based commercial electricity generation.

Choice
