Pecs, risky or not Tony will have no choice but to go for the DD if the new Senate frustrates him more. Not to do so would give the opposition grounds to say he has broken his promises.
My reading of human nature tells me that they won't push it that far. Will these brand new PUP senators with the prospect of six easy years ahead of them commit suicide JUST because Clive says so? If they force a DD the electorate will not be enamoured with them. There will be a lot of senators who would not be listed one or two on the ballot who decide it isn't worth the risk.
But Tony must make it crystal clear that he won't cop crap and he MUST be willing to follow through with his threats.
