To suggest that a huge tax on energy production doesn't make businesses less competitive and less profitable; ditto that the passed on costs don't hurt consumers. To suggest otherwise is spin, not reason.
The best approach is Tony Abbott's - get rid of it altogether. After all, there is still no proof - despite enough hot air from the spinmeisters to melt the Arctic - that a CO2 tax by Australia can possibly have any effect at all on the climate.
