That's the kicker right there. Our token effort will do absolutely NOTHING on the world scene, and China's INCREASE in emissions every few months is more than Australia's total amount. And that's not taking into account the USA, India, Russia, most of the other Eastern Europen countries, a lot of Asia, etc etc.
The whole carbon tax and ETS nonsense is nothing more than a means of making money for (a) the Government who are running out of it too quickly by spending it, and (b) the financial whizzes who will be administering it on behalf of the government, and trading carbon credits i.e. Goldman Sachs etc.
I wonder if there's any connection between Malcolm Turnbull's support for a carbon trading scheme, and the fact that he used to head up Goldman Sachs in Australia, and, I gather, still has a very big investment in them?
Nah - that would be far too cynical of me to think that, wouldn't it????
But Lynas should theoretically not be affected, given that the actual processing - arguably the only potentially polluting stage - will be done offshore...
