Here's my take. Not as bad as thought in years 1 to 3 but after that only a moron will be producing steel in Australia; particularly when you have the opportunity to exit.
Thus, I think BSL and OST will abandon steel production in Australia using the initial period as a get out with planning chance. Hopefully they will announce the closure of Whyalla, Port kembla, Newcastle and the others the day after the Red Witch calls the election.
Their other alternative is to wait for a coalition government..... but do you really think a coalition government will care for steel workers who voted for this crap in the first place???
Thus, OST becomes an iron ore producer in Australia with grinding media, etc offshore. BSL becomes a home fabricator in the US and perhaps a specialist steel consulting operation. They can sell Colorbond and other trademarks to Asian producers but they haven't got a hope if the dollar stays where it is.
