Compared to Australia, the Chinese still emit a fraction per capita towards the world's carbon dioxide pollution. They will also commence their Emissions Trading Scheme in 1913, while India already has a carbon tax.

Some of the more advanced and civilised nations of the world, i.e. the Nordic countries, introduced forms of carbon tax way back in the 1990s and have been refining them ever since. This is despite the fact that they are all situated to the North of the pollution belt which encircles the Earth between 10 degrees and 55 degrees North Latitude and is becoming more visible to the human eye each year.

We are fortunate in the Southern Hemispere in that we have probably less than 10% of the World's manufacturing industry and population, with the Intertropical Convergency Zone quarantining us from the Northern Hemispere's pollution. As we look out from our beaches we can actually still see the horizon. Let's try to keep it that way for our children and grandchildren shall we?
