Your last paragraph I tend to agree with.
Your buy price and margin estimates are a bit off and without some evidence, it seems like guesswork.
The grocery cartels do screw the suppliers.
They also make them pay for marketing.
They also make them pay when they choose to discount.
But to suggest PFT are making a measly 75c on a $5.50 item is misleading.

MC has been around the block long enough to know when a product has no hope or becomes uneconomical to produce. I'd suggest he knows he's on a winner here, but also mindful of premature promotion.
