In an ideal world I would agree with you. The problem is very few people have the resources that are required. Can you estimate how much the average citizen would need to proceed even 10 % of the distance that George Pell has through the courts? My guess is the church has stumped up more than $10M at least and they have lost every round. If he loses this one, and he probably will, do you think the money the church has spent could have been better directed to the victims rather than the perpetrator? The jury got it right and the recent revelations show that he ought to face new charges if he is released. I am sure you would agree with this since you support the rule of law.
