Whilst I gave up being a practising Catholic many many years ago, to the detriment of my then close relationship with one of my brothers, it is sad to see so many in the Church tarred with the same ugly brush. But that's the price the Church has to pay for its negligence of the past.Whilst it can't be blamed for all incidences of sexual abuse, the Church's policy on celibacy must be partly to blame.And has this policy encouraged those with homosexual tendencies to join the priesthood in a time when homosexuality was not accepted by the wider community?
