No neither of those. Cardiac surgeons generally choose the valves that they are familiar with installing and have a long track record of performance. Once the most suitable type of valve, mechanical or bio prosthetic is chosen in conjunction with the patient, the method , TAVR or SAVR and the brand of valve installed is not a decision made by the patient, but by the cardiac surgical team.
