Here in Thailand, we're one step closer to scratchcard-less top-ups with 7-11 stores now going to E-Top ups (not e-pay, but still good overall).
I think 1-2-Call (the biggest telco by subscribers) are directly selling through the 7-11 network via the registers as e-pay has no real competition in the top-up market but it's still a good thing for e-pay as it shows telcos are thinking non-scratchcard options.
E-pay still has Family Marts (as ubiquitous as 7-11) as well as lots of other retail outlets.
Other telcos will now have to follow suit to stay competitive which means more sales to e-pay Thailand as the market slowly goes cardless. It's all being sold as "Earth friendly" which is big among young Thais.
The 7-11 slips are like e-pay's so there's no real advantage overall. E-pay still has a solid foothold in the market.
