i would say that the best way to do well in a bank is to come in with a wealth of experience under your belt from elsewhere. coming in as a grad may be a far tougher route, than doing your appreticeship elsewhere and walking into a bank into a $100k+ position. banks can eat you alive early in your career. my feeling is that its best to join them when you already have gained some serious commercial experience and have well developed communication skills and confidence...
