From what you can go on from the ann there is 1000ft of fish that they haven't been able to get back to suface. Either this was the easiest place to screw off the pipe. Or the the cement job has gone horribly wrong and they have cemented up to 1000ft of pipe. I personally haven't seen that many perfect cement jobs so this is not out of the question.
If there is 1000ft of cement to drill out, we could be waiting a long time, espically at that depth, sometimes just as hard or harder than the rock you are drilling. I'm guessing that this mill bit is going to come in contact with the casing at some point on it's way drilling / milling down and cause some wear and tear? No? Is the pipe going to be dead centre of the hole? All sorts of things can go wrong, and in my case do go wrong in drilling wells.
After milling they will have to then latch on and pull free!!
They will of weighed this up and the option of going for a whipstock and sidetrack, and will have come up with the cheaper (at the moment it's the time that costing, as time on a rig cost money).
I give them 40% of catching and landing this fish.
Sue I hold these shares, I'm 80% positive that there is lots of gas in the leadville. It's hard getting to any resource at 15000ft MD, tho
I think get out now and buy in 2-3 weeks time. There will be not positive news from a while (famous last words).
Your thougts please...thanks
