$UNIS - As the price dipped, Insto's Acquired
Well the numbers are almost in and it appears that there will again be a huge jump in institutional holdings for $UNIS Unilife. Some of the factors may be obvious like the company completing another offering, but there have been a number of new and significant additions to the list. Right now there are over 28 million shares being held by funds and with only 35 million shares outstanding on the Nasdaq, there really aren't many shares left for the rest of the investing population. The fact that there are over 9 million shares short has helped keep a lid on the stock that has limited the upside. The company continues to build an arsenal of products that will eventually be launched with great fanfare by various pharmaceutical companies. CEO Alan Shortall has stated that the company is in various stages of discussions with over 40 pharmaceutical companies now. The problem for individual investors is that their timetable doesn't coincide with the pharmaceutical industries. These are long range planners. The view their businesses in 5 and 10 year increments not 6 month and 1 year increments. That makes projecting utilization of various devices very difficult and often a moving target. The fact that Unilife has been able to expand their offerings will only make them more attractive to pharmas who can utilize them as a one stop shop for all their drug delivery needs. As long as Unilife maintains institutional support they will be able to continue pushing their business forward as quickly as possible. They continue to attract attention because of the enormous potential for each market that their products address. Eventually that potential should be realized and translate in large scale sales.
