Mr Carr's office confirmed to the ABC he is taking legal action.
Earlier in the day, Radio NZ reported Mr Carr — who was also premier of New South Wales for 10 years — said he considered the comments to be "entirely defamatory".
In New Zealand Question Time today, he was asked if he stood by "his criticism of AUKUS critics, including his statement about the honourable Bob Carr that, quote, 'he is nothing more than a Chinese puppet'?"

Given his stance against jewish control over gillard, I'm backing Carr, in this bru ha ha.

there is strong antipathy toward Carr. he did much to damage the NSW economy through his preferences.

but he certainly is a well-informed person and has had a strong interest in Chinese matters for decades. whether he's right or wrong is often debated with all manner of objections raised, his opinions simply add considerable input to any discussion on Chinese/Aus relations.
