Sydney - Tuesday - July 1: (RWE Australian Business News) - Virgin Blue Holdings Ltd (ASX:VBA) today released preliminary operating statistics for the months of April and May. Passenger numbers for April rose 10.6pc over the previous year. Virgin Blue traffic, measured by Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPKs), increased 4.7pc while capacity, measured by Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs), rose 11.3pc over the same period. Revenue load factor was down 4.9 points to 77.2pc. On-time performance was 81pc, compared with 88pc. Passenger numbers for the 10 months to April rose 8.1pc from the previous year. RPKs increased 6.0pc and ASKs 6.0pc. Revenue load factor was steady at 82.0pc. On-time performance was 80pc, compared with 88pc.

Passenger numbers in May rose 16.4pc over the previous year. RPKs increased 12.4pc and ASKs 17.5pc. Revenue load factor was down 3.3 points to 72.5pc. On-time performance was 88pc, against 89pc. Passengers for the 11 months to May rose 8.8pc from the previous year. RPKs increased 6.5pc and ASKs 7.1pc. Revenue load factor increased by 0.4 points to 81.0pc. On-time performance was 80pc, compared with 88pc.
