Amidst the fog of appeals I noticed this in the Westport "the News" from last Thursday
"Bathurst had sold 15,507 tonnes of coal from
its Cascade Mine on the Denniston Plateau and
32,451 tonnes from its Takitimu thermal coal mine
in Southland in the three months to the end of
June."
This would give the cascade mine annualised production of about 62K tpa up from what I understood to be a 50K tpa mine. An increase of 24 % annualised.
Not much to crow about but probably explains why HB et al are moveing ahead with the BIG SHED at Westport. Any extra tonnage from cascade will yeild better returns from the Asian coking Coal market. Cascade is prjected to expand to 150K tpa over next 12 to 18 months. It seems it has begun.
