It's much easier for any govt to pay compensation rather than face any voter discontent. The out of court settlement is a win win situation. The govt is seen as pro agricultural and pro mining. Any further mining development in Qld will face greater environmental scrutiny

The cougar will be in great shape with millions in bank to develop projects where farmers with six cows and a goat can't shut us down
