I do not believe that SMM will be part of any JV.
You need to remember that Axiom KB are the undisputed traditional landowners. I have spoken to a client of mine who does volunteer work in the SI. He stated that Traditional owners are not money hungry as we are. To these people honour, respect, truth, community and friendship are above money. If the landowners feel betrayed by SMM (as I’m sure they do); SMM will be confronted with machetes, cane cutters and clubs if they ever try to mine or explore. You will see the people’s smiling faces turn to anger.
I do believe that management have been talking with SMM, however I don’t think Ryan Mount could ever convince Axiom KB to allow a JV with SMM.
In my opinion the CMC is the best way forward. Any issues regarding traditional owners or Axiom will go straight into the shredder. The landowners have proven their case and so have we. Now SMM are left with suing the Government and must present a case on why they should have the Nickel.
