BNPL was already peaking by 2018 and had started to fall in 2019. It was a crowded. niche. market (effectively low limit credit cards for poor people) with very limited growth prospects. If it hadn't been for the Covid lockdowns (home shopping) and massive stimulus most BNPL providers would have already gone bust.
