Hydrogen 'Fuel Cell' vehicles still have a battery to provide power to the electric motor that drives the vehicle. The battery can provide 'instant' power to the electric motor, whereas the fuel cell takes time to convert the hydrogen to electricity. The battery will be much smaller that that used in a pure EV.
