joint venture proves up yet more nickel at carnily Latest drilling extends Carnilya Hill nickel discovery

    Mincor mining operations

Kambalda nickel mining company, Mincor Resources has announced a further significant extension to its Carnilya Hill nickel sulphide discovery in the Kambalda Nickel District in Western Australia.

The announcement comes after the company intersected high-tenor mineralisation 160m west of the previously defined limits of mineralisation.

Mincor said that the Carnilya Hill mineralised system now extended over a plunge length of 550m beyond the limits of previous mining and remained open to the west, while ongoing in-fill drilling continued to confirm the continuity of the mineralisation.

Mincor’s Managing Director, David Moore said that this was a significant intersection as it extends the system another 160m to the west and shows that the high tenor of the sulphide mineralisation is still present.

“The location of the intersection suggests that the plunge of the overall system remains shallow – that is very important for the capital development costs of any potential future mining operation,” he said.

A number of in-fill holes have also been completed, testing for continuity of mineralisation within the portion of the mineralised system that has been defined to date.

Drill hole CMD011 intersected 2.0m @ 4.35% nickel from 507.00m, including 1.08m @ 7.17% nickel. The core angles indicate that the intersection is close to true width. The mineralisation in this hole consists of massive and matrix sulphides developed under an interpreted structurally created basalt leading edge.

Two further holes, CMD005W2 and CMD002W2, were wedged off existing parent holes. The former intersected a narrow zone of high grade and high tenor mineralisation, 0.30m @ 14.25% nickel from 482.42m depth, and the drill core indicated some structural complexity in this area.

CMD002W2 intersected 0.45m @ 3.55% nickel from 615.04m depth, in stringer sulphides, and is thought to define the base of the mineralised channel in that area.

Mincor said drilling was continuing at the site with two rigs. A company representative said that drilling progress had been unsatisfactory over the past month due to the inability of the drilling contractor to supply enough manpower to operate double shifts on both rigs.

Mincor is earning a 70 percent interest in Carnilya Hill from View Resources.
