It would be interesting to do a carbon emissions study on all the Award ceremonies that Cate Blanchett attends. Some of the things to take into account:

1. First class air travel for all participants - including stars, directors, flunkies,presenters, promoters, producers, media, fashion designers, hairdressers and all their hangers on.

2. Provision of couture gowns and jewellery for Cate and other stars to wear as they preen before the cameras.

3. Accommodation for all of the above in airconditioned 6 star hotels.

4. Food for all of the above. How does it get there? By horse and cart - I think not.

5. Printing of all the programmes, press releases and other paper work required for the ceremonies.

This is just a start - there are probably lots more items to take into account.
