gilded- " It is far from ideal as a child needs a mother and a father....." aren't we discussing what is done when this ideal is not met? unwanted pregnancies?
pregnant girls some of whom don't know who the father is,could be one of a half dozen? or father is some deadbeat droog on a onenight stand with no relationship commitment whatsoever?
you know the situations gilded when even a shotgun can't be used to get the 'right thing' done?
Now that's just one of the circumstances that now 'feed' the less than ideal mum&dad need of children and the abortion industry too.
Now gilded I agree that church run organisations particularly the catholic church did do much practical work in relieving some of the distress in this community 'problem'.
Not just counselling but the provision of hospital beds and medical care at catholic institutions like the Mater Hospital in Brisbane which had nuns on the nursing staff 'their heart was always to help both mother and child".
but gilded you can see all over this site that the Roman Catholic church is considered the least christian branch of Christianity. In fact to some it is a work of Satan leading it's followers into the hell fire of eternal damnation.

I suppose the question is- what's to be done? when the society ideal of children having caring mothers and fathers is not happening. Lament? Judge? Force? or use it as one of the reasons that Judgement Day is Nigh? ohhh Rapture!
