I've got a rescue cat from Lost Dog and Cat's home. She's turned out to be an Abyssinian red.
Very intelligent though and huge amounts of personality. I hesitated putting her outside but she is so demanding it's essential for her to get contact with nature and the stimulus she needs. She's so well fed, she doesn't attack the birds.....So far! She just watches them.
Apparently you cannot mix breeds, the ordinary cats don't understand the exotic breeds and vice versa.
I'd get a kitten but it won't solve the loneliness problem and Aby kittens are around $900 a pop.
