6 weeks is about right to get the franking credits - 45 clear days. I think dividend stripping is a black art and I have had mixed success. I think some companies are better than others. NHC should be good going forward. To many unknowns with WHC atm. YAL tends to climb way too high after divi announcement and then crash way more than divi + FC after it goes ex. The exception being when it withheld its last divi for corporate action and it nosedived way more than it should have. I buy a lot of companies for which the shareprice crashes after some form of "bad" news. Most times it is oversold and opens up great buying opportunities with short-term bounce backs. Does not always work - ING was a bad one for me and I am still holding. WAF was a great one for trading and I also hold a long term parcel. YAL was pretty good after they withheld the divi - they still had all the money! Could not believe the drop.
